Fast approaching her 30th birthday and finding herself not married, not dating, and without even a prospect or a house full of cats, Renee Greene, the heroine of Click: An Online Love Story, reluctantly joins her best guy pal on a journey to find love online in Los Angeles. The story unfolds through a series of emails between Renee and her best friends (anal-compulsive Mark, the overly-judgmental Ashley and the over-sexed Shelley) as well as the gentlemen suitors she meets online. From the guy who starts every story with “My buddies and I were out drinking one night,” to the egotistical “B” celebrity looking for someone to stroke his ego, Renee endures her share of hilarious and heinous cyber dates. Fraught with BCC’s, FWD’s and inadvertent Reply to All’s, readers will root for Renee to “click” with the right man
I havenβt read one of these email style books in a long time.Β I forgot how funny these could be.
Lisa Becker takes us through the trials and tribulations with online dating.Β Iβve always wondered what went on with the online dating scene and if this is even one ounce close to it, Iβm soooo glad it wasnβt around back in my dating days!
Renee Greene is on the cusp of her 30th birthday, fearfulΒ sheβs doomed to turn into a spinster living in an apartment overrun with cats, she begrudgingly agrees to join an online dating service with her friend Mark.Β What happens next is quite funny.
Through emails between Renee, her friends Mark, Shelley and Ashley, and those that come from her online dating services, we get a birds eye view on what happens when one dips their toe in to the online dating pool.Β And that pool tends to be a little murky.
I give Renee credit.Β Given some of the βinterestingβ people that presented themselves to her, I would have turned off the computer and vowed to never to turn it on again.Β Β Β
Renee started out being overly nice to all the men that contacted her and it was once she got burned that she finally got some self confidence and stood up for herself on many different levels.Β It was nice to see.
Reneeβs friends are priceless (who wouldnβt want Shelley as their best friend.Β Her hijinks would keep you in stitches) and bring depth to the story.
Good debut and enjoyable read!
