Candace, a newcomer to writing erotica, is thrilled when Charlie, a veteran of the industry, agrees to be her mentor. But neither of them ever expected that Charlie’s lessons on new positions, using toys, varying locations and role playing would spiral from verbal instruction into hot, hands on education. Unfortunately, Candace’s deception about the new erotic romance she’s writing–where Charlie plays the starring role–is about to threaten their one chance at true love.
I’ll admit, when I downloaded this as a free read, I figured this was going to be one of those super short, super quick reads that I could count in my 2011 Reading Challenge.Β I guess that will teach me to assume (I know, I know…the whole ASS U ME thing).
If you’ve seen the books that I read, I’m no prude and don’t mind sex laced stories.Β And even though this book was clearly going to have a lot of sex in it (hello…those both erotic writers), I just couldn’t get into the “other” stories that were laced through this one.Β Every time I would get to one of the “other” stories, I would have to strain to keep my eyes forward.Β Hello?????Β I just read that sex scene, but the main characters were Charlie and Candace.
I get that we, as readers, were supposed to see how Candace was taking the “lessons” she was learning with Charlie and using them to write her novel.Β However, I could have gotten that information from a couple of paragraphs sprinkled in the story.
I’m glad this was a free read on Kindle.Β Not to knock Bella Andre, as I’ve enjoyed some of her other books, but this one just didn’t do it for or to me.
