Nate Walker has never shied away from the hard road. Even when it meant leaving behind his family’s wealth and the fiancée who only wanted a rich man. Nothing was going to stop him from opening his own five-star restaurant.
If you’re a JR Ward fan, here’s a warning for you. While this story happens in New York, near Albany, the similarity between this story and the Brotherhood / Fallen Angels series ends there.
This is a re-worked Jessica Bird novel, which was originally title Beauty and the Black Sheep. It’s a cute story. Frankie Moorehouse is having a hard time keeping her families B & B, White Caps, open. To make matters worse, she’s behind on the mortgage, the summer seasons coming and her chef has just abruptly quit to get married in Vegas.
Luckily for Frankie, Nate Walker’s car decides to break down close to the B & B. He walks into her kitchen while she’s staring at a burnt chicken and immediately sets to fixing the issue. Nate is a Paris trained Chef who is planning on opening his own restaurant, but he’s running low on funds so helping Frankie for the summer may be what he needs.
Frankie and Nate butt heads immediately, both being strong willed and stubborn, but they are both attracted to each other. Will their stubbornness be enough to save White Caps? Well when the book wraps up tidily at the end…the answer is yes.
If you’re looking for something that easy, has virtually no swear words (when did JR Ward develop her potty mouth, cause it sure as hell wasn’t evident here) and “sweet” sex, this would be for you.
