The last place Autumn Cole wanted to be was back in Fairfield, Washington, but her father needed her help and she needed his. Having lost her job at a gallery in Seattle, Autumn had no choice than to sell what she could and head to a place where at least she’d have a roof over both hers and her son’s head. The only problem was, she was going to need to face the reason she left the town when she was eighteen…her father.

When she gets to Fairfield, things go from bad to worse. Her car get a flat, her dad is still drinking like a fish, the local grocery doesn’t carry vegetarian food her son will eat and she runs into the man that slipped through her fingers, Henry Tobler.

Autumn finds out Henry is the new social study teacher at her son, Elliot’s, school and just like that…the feelings she’s always had for Henry come rushing to the surface.

This was a cute read. Having moved away from the small town I grew up in to live in a suburb of Los Angeles, I could totally relate to Autumn. She didn’t want to go back, reliving the horrible moments from her youth, but was forced because of bad circumstances, which humiliated her. Then, to make matters a thousand times worse, she runs into the man that quickly owned her heart thirteen years prior. Even though she was the one that left, Henry, she never stopped loving him.

Henry was a wonderful hero who struggled with his conscious. In the midst of a divorce, did he grasp onto the woman that got away and make sure she stays there or wait until the timing was more ideal.
The cast of secondary characters were fun (loved Holly’s birth scene) and rounded out this fun, satisfying read. A great addition to your beach read pile.
