On what should be the happiest day of her life, Rebecca Ross is panic stricken. Rebecca has just wed Craig Jacobs, but she realizes she put more thought into choosing her florist than she did in choosing the man sheβs just pledged to love for the rest of her life.
Before Craig, Rebecca, a talented Long Island girl, dreamed of following in her grandmotherβs footsteps with an acting career. Unfortunately, she was cut down to size by years of disappointment, and by her first loveβa Hollywood director. She returned to Long Island a lost and broken woman, and ended up in the last place she ever wanted: her old bedroom at her parentsβ house.
But Rebeccaβs mother, an overzealous convert to Judaism, has a long held dream too: marry off her three daughters to Jewish men. So no one is more thrilled than her when Rebecca meets and marries bon vivant Craig Jacobs, the man who has won over the whole family. Too bad theyβre all about to discover that underneath his charismatic shell, this Prince Charming is anything but!Β
Rebecca Ross moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams of making it big in film, television or stage.Β Unfortunately, after almost 10 years sheβs still working bit parts in televisions shows or large parts in commercials.Β Β Β Sheβs ready to throw in the towel especially after she finds the man that she loves in a compromising position with one of her co-stars.
Rebecca finds herself back home feeling sorry for herself when she meet Craig Jacobs.Β He saves her life (she was choking on a cherry tomato) and relentlessly pursues her until she agrees to date him.Β Six short months later, Rebecca and Craig are getting married.
Problem is, Rebecca feels as if sheβs made the biggest mistake of her life.Β Even more disturbing, sheβs just realized that her sisterβs boyfriend has overheard everything sheβs said.Β Then to make matters worse, she overhears her new in-laws discussing the fact that Craig has sworn then to secrecy about some tidbits from her past.Β Their honeymoon wasnβt much better.Β Rebecca and Craig find themselves in hot water with the Italian police and more disgruntled with each other.Β Their only hope is the help of Rebeccaβs little sisterβs boyfriend.
This story was very cute.Β I was a little confused when Chapter 1 was about the wedding and then Chapter 2 started with Rebecca as a little girl, but the story was very intriguing and kept me hooked.Β
Rebecca was someone I think everyone could identify with.Β I think there will be many who could totally sympathize with the overbearing parent trying to steer you in their direction for your life instead of discovering it yourself.Β You felt bad for her when she lost acting gigs by just asking someone to be a little nicer in their delivery of criticism or when she has her heart broken by the love of her life.
This was a surprisingly good read that will keep you entertained and hoping that Rebecca will finally get it right in the end.

Great review. I can relate to that as a parent. Wanting and wishing for your kids, but in the end they have to live their own lives. Sounds like a lovely, easy read. Thanks for sharing.
