Sexy, single, and even sweeter than the treats he bakes, New York pastry chef Danny Lunden is trying to stay focused on food—not females. With the Rising Star Chef competition approaching, he doesn’t have time to get all steamed up over the gorgeous woman he encounters on the plane to Chicago. Even if she is Eva Jansen—the billionaire heiress in charge of the contest… Danny assumes that “Eva the Diva” is a spoiled rich girl who doesn’t share his passion for food. But when the two meet up again in an elevator—alone—they share more than just passion. They share a kiss hot enough to start a kitchen fire—and they’re hungry for more. To indulge their new secret craving, Eva and Danny have to break every rule in the cookbook. But—like chocolate and caramel—some ingredients are are so sinfully good together, one scrumptious bite is never enough…

Danny Lunden has always been the fixer. He made it his responsibility to make sure everyone was happy. He did it with his best friend, Jules, when she had problems growing up, did it with his parents when his brother, Max, left to discover himself and he’s doing it now getting everyone prepared for the next round of the Rising Star Chef competition, which the team from Lunden’s Tavern will be representing the East Coast at. It’s while trying to address one of his teammates problems (poor Becks is slightly claustrophobic) that he runs into the one person that throws him into a tailspin, Eva Jensen.

Eva Jensen has been raised to go after what she wants. What she wants, is for the RSC to be a huge success so she can prove to her father that she’s worthy to take over his company when he retires and she wants the Pastry Chef from Lunden’s Tavern. Eva figures getting Danny Lunden was going to be fairly easy, as she’s never had problems with the opposite sex before, but she doesn’t count on Danny not falling for her bait and wanting to help her inside (like I said…he’s a fixer).

I was glad to see Eva redeem herself a bit in this book. In Too Hot To Touch, she came off as bratty and self absorbed. She started out that way in this book, but we soon learned she acted that way to cover up all the insecurities she had about not being good enough to run Jensen Hospitality.

Danny is intense. He shoulders a lot of the burden, both in his professional and personal life. He also tends to internalize a lot of his emotions so that he can always appear to be even keel. It was fun to see him lose that control when Eva entered the picture. She got him to loosen up and let someone help him when he needed it.

This was a hot, sexy read that has a cast a characters you adore and hope to see standing at the top of that challenge podium at the end of the series.
