Trey Turner may be topping the country music charts but his life has been going downhill since his wife left him five years ago. He’s desperate to make amends for the mistakes he’s made and convince Sierra their love deserves a second chance.

Sierra Brooks is happy for the first time since her divorce. She has a career she loves and a fiancé who loves her. Unfortunately, her fiancé isn’t the only man professing his love. He may be able to offer her safety and security, but will she decide to risk everything for another chance with the man who broke her heart?

I love when I get a book to review for a blog tour and I absolutely fall in love with it.  Shameless is one of those books.  It has characters wonderfully flawed characters that have to fight to get back what they lost, but when they get it right it absolutely fantastic.

Trey Turner is this hottest thing in country music.  He portrays himself as a fun loving guy but in reality he’s a miserable drunk thinking of ways to end the painful reminders of losing the woman he loves and the child they both lost.  It was interesting to see Trey thumb is nose at family and friends by opening drinking in front of them.  Even his best friend and agent enabled Trey to continue on his self-destructive ways.  But it wasn’t until Sierra stepped back into the picture that she finally got his act together.  Makes you wonder why no one tried to get them together sooner.

Sierra was an interesting character.  Where Trey wore his feelings on his sleeve and was very open about his desire to reconnect with Sierra again, Sierra did her best to only show Trey her anger and resentment for what he did to her.  She’d moved on with an older man who she was sure to only like and not having to worry about breaking her heart.  But later we find that Sierra has kept a pretty big secret that was the a large reason for why she left Trey.  While most people may use that as a reason to not like Sierra, her reasoning in a time of tremendous grief made sense, no matter how deceptive it was.

A heartbreaking and emotional read with a couple who were truly meant to be together, they just needed to learn to talk to each other a bit more.
