Eleanor’s romantic tour of Italy shatters when her long-time boyfriend dumps her in Pompeii. Hoping an evening with a handsome Roman might save her trip, she contacts Madame Eve at 1Night Stand, then goes out to explore, buying a small golden signet in a mysterious antiquities shop near the Forum.

Darius, a hard-working Senator in Ancient Rome, is puzzled by the Sibyl’s words: You will not find love in your lifetime. Following her directions, he spots Eleanor, a barbarian wearing his stolen senator’s ring.

A night spent together may be just what they both need to break down the columns of time that stand between them.

This 1NightStand entry had a twist to it. 

Eleanor finds herself dumped while exiting a tour bus in Pompeii by a boyfriend she thought would be proposing to her.  Sulking through several ancient Italian cities and signing up for a date with Madame Eve, Eleanor snaps out of it in Rome and decides to look for a gift for herself in an antiquities shop.  She’s presented with a senator ring, who’s owner Darius, no one can find information on.

Darius, visits the Sibyl hoping to get some direction in his life.  He’s been told by her that he won’t find love in his lifetime, but he’s convinced he was meant for more.  Taking direction from the Sibyl, he goes to an olive grove where he finds the woman the Sibyl said would be waiting for him.  He thinks he’s there for just a night to slack his lust, but he discovers this strange woman is someone he wants more than a night with.

As with other 1NightStand stories, Madame Eve manages to pair two people up with seemingly belong together.  She did the same in this one, albeit via some time travel.  Eleanor, who loves anything to do with Ancient Rome, is the perfect match for Darius.  And while their night together proves to both of them that this is true, it did leave me wanting a little bit more of what was going to happen with Darius and Eleanor once their choice had been made.
