He left all he loved behind…
Will he be able to return and win her heart?
An earth-shattering secret revealed in his recently deceased mother’s diary causes harsh words between Noah Garrett and his brother. Desolate and totally bewildered, Noah leaves Pilot Isle and has no contact with his family or even Elle Beaumont, the girl who has been his shadow all through childhood. Now, ten years later, Noah is a renowned biologist and returns to Pilot Isle to head up a research lab. Coming back home opens up old wounds and uncovers buried feelings. Hoping to have a few days to cope with all the old emotions welling up within him, Noah really isn’t ready to face anyone yet. However, it’s just his luck that the first person he literally bumps into is Elle. The only difference is, Elle is no longer a thin red headed mischievous imp who is constantly in trouble and always needing to be rescued. This Elle is a gorgeous, passionate young woman who sets Noah’s blood on fire.
Marielle Claire Beaumont has loved Noah since she was a child. As a sad little girl who’d recently lost her mother and couldn’t speak English, Elle met Noah when he saved her from taunts at school. Ever since then Elle has loved Noah unconditionally and followed him around like a little puppy. Her world was shattered when he left so suddenly. His silence all these years has been very difficult, and Elle is stunned when she slams into him so unexpectedly. It’s not long before she’s disrupting Noah’s life again as sparks of passion fly in every direction between the two.
Reviewer’s Thoughts:
Elle has loved Noah since he stood up for her when classmates at school made fun of the new girl with the funny accent. But when she stumbles upon his mother’s diary and that leads to the discovery that Noah is not who he thought he was, he takes off as far as he can get from Elle and his brothers. Ten years later, he finds himself back in Pilot Isle, North Carolina to set up a marine biology lab for the college he works for in Chicago. While Noah had always planned on returning home to reunite with is brother, he wanted to do it on his terms on his timeline. But he let’s that go to do what’s best for the college.
Elle has not had an easy life in the last ten years. She’s endured the whispers and pointed fingers from the town that vowed it was her fault Noah ran away from Pilot Isle. On top of that, her ex-fiance made sure to end their engagement in the most public way possible, just because she said she did not want to enter into a loveless union. So when Noah shows up back in town her world is rocked.
Elle and Noah are complete opposites. She’s passionate about her causes, loyal to a fault and will do just about anything to help someone who needs it and spontaneous. Noah has to think things through, make lists and exam every angle before he can make a decision. He likes order and doesn’t do well when someone upsets his balance. But upset his balance is what Elle has always been good at doing with Noah, even more so now that he’s an adult. He has no control over his emotions or his libido and because of that he’s irrational and not at all kind when it comes to Elle.
Elle, with her impulsiveness doesn’t always give Noah the chance to catch up to her. She doesn’t always take into account Noah’s need to assess things or give him the chance to explain himself. By ignoring all those things, she brings a lot of heartache upon herself (at least where Noah is concerned).
An interesting story, proving that you can come back home and fight the demons you left behind while finding the one thing you need the most was right in front of you.
