Able to render themselves invisible, immortal Cloak Warriors like Aiden have been protecting humans from the dark power of the Demons of Fear for centuries. But the demons might soon have a powerful tool in their hands to seduce humans to the dark side. And the person to provide them with this elixir is the human scientist Leila. Unbeknownst to her, the drug she’s developing to cure Alzheimer’s has the unexpected side effect of weakening the mind’s resistance to the influence of demons.
The Council of Cloak Warriors is divided, some of them believing the only safe way to eradicate this threat is to eliminate its inventor, others are bent on protecting the human scientist. Aiden is a loyal Cloak Warrior who accepts the assignment to protect her despite his own beliefs that humans can\’t be trusted. However, when her life is endangered, his beliefs shift, and he’s drawn into a battle whose participants are unknown: is he fighting the demons or his fellow Cloak Warriors?
Forbidden desire flares between Aiden and Leila as they are forced to rely on the only people they can trust: each other. And even if he can save her and defeat their enemies, a union between them might be the most dangerous undertaking of all.

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

If you’re familiar with Folsom’s Scanguards series you will love the Cloak Warriors. If you are not acquainted with Folsom’s work, this is a great book to get started with. With a heroine who is a certified genius and a hero who considers himself a sort of bodyguard for humankind, you couldn’t have two more different people. Yet they manage to make it work.

Unlike most romance novels, these characters are fully developed and their actions believable. The heroine doesn’t turn into a simpering woman who allows the hero to make all her decisions. She realistically pretends to go along for a while, all along having a plan B. Aidan is strong, handsome and has a hidden tortured past… everything every girl finds irresistible in a man.

Close to a breakthrough on a cure for Alzheimer’s, Leila finds herself all, of a sudden the target of two groups. One which wants to keep her alive to use her research for evil; the other believes she and her research are too much of a threat and want her dead. Along comes the handsome and mysterious Aidan. Not sure if she can trust him, but positive that she is attracted to him, Leila agrees to go along with him fully intending to continue her research as soon as he was gone. Betrayed at every turn and not sure who they can trust, Leila and Aidan must learn to trust each other or lose all hope for mankind.

Packed with action at every turn and enough suspense to keep you guessing, Edge of Passion is definitely a book to read if you enjoy just steamy enough to keep the pages turning but not so much so that you feel the need to hide what you’re reading from others.
