Reviewer’s Thoughts:

Regan Keller is a woman rebuilding her life after a traumatic and near fatal love affair. She escaped her former lover and is ready to move on, He thinks she is dead and Regan likes it that way.  She has recovered physically, but is still haunted emotionally by what has happened to her and she vows she won’t be making the same mistakes twice. How hard can it be to just not date or fall in love with her boss?

Zachary Benson is a man driven to prove his success in a business started by his grandfather and then passed to his father and now him. He has all the best education money can buy, Boarding schools in France and an Ivy league degree in architecture.  He pushes himself to be better than anyone else, including showing his dad he can make the company bigger and better. He lives and breathes his work to the point he sleeps in his office fairly regularly.

Starting her first day at her new job running late, in the rain, and having to take the bus because of car troubles is not how Regan wanted to start over. When she is thrown into the lap of a handsome stranger because the bus is so full she is thrilled to be dipping her toe back in the game of dating. She is less than thrilled after she finds out her handsome stranger is Zach, her new boss. Zach thought about nothing but running his company, that is until he met his new executive assistant Regan. Zach turns on the charm and Regan throws up her walls.

It is a very cute way to introduce the hero and heroine in this book. The plot is a good one and I liked Zach right away, I wanted to like Regan I wanted to be sympathetic to her horrible past. Zach is fun and flirty, he is willing to wait and accept Regan as she shares little bits and pieces of her past. There in lies what I thought was the problem. Regan after finally giving in to the mutual attraction that she and Zach share, drags out telling Zach anything about what happened to her. I found it frustrating and wished I could reach in the book and give her a good solid shake.

The other problem I had with this book was that the end felt rushed again after dragging out the telling of her secrets through 200 some odd pages, everything comes to a head and then is basically dismissed.

I hate spoilers so I am not going to give anything away but I felt like wrapping up  a huge part of the plot in less than a chapter and then never really touching on what happened next made the climax of the book more anti-climactic. Again I like the plot and I enjoyed the story, I loved that it showed how love accepts you for who you are and the things that made you that way.

Over all not a bad read I liked it and am giving it 3 out of 5 cocktails.
