I’m going to start out this review by saying the following:  I loved this book.  If you love your romantic suspense full of angst-ridden characters, this is definitely one that you will need to pick up.

Genie Marsters is an ex-CTA agent who went into hiding 8 months ago after a warehouse fire killed her sister and almost killed her and her boyfriend.  But when a UPS delivery truck show up at her front door with a necklace belonging to her mother, she knows something has gone terribly, terribly wrong.

The last thing Kyle Montgomery wants to do is save the woman who destroyed his heart, but he’s a good soldier and he follows orders.  Once he has Genie, he knows that he won’t be able to let her go…no matter what.

Genie and Kyle must find out the secret her father was willing to go to great lengths to keep.  Unfortunately, that means trusting in each other…something that was broken eight months prior when the warehouse fire happened.  But what they also discover, is no matter what lies they’ve told themselves they still love each other very much.  So while they run through the wooded island of the Pacific Northwest, survive the chilly waters of the Pacific or dodging the bullets of a son bent on revenge, they have to figure out a way to deal with the lies that broke then apart and the secret of Genie and her sisters’ empathic abilities before they can move forward.

This was the first book in Entangled Publishing’s Dead Sexy line and let me tell you, it hits the ground running.  Genie is a woman determined to keep everyone at arms length because of the lies and secrets she was forced to keep.  But she’s also a woman who craves having people around her to love and support her.  While she’s a strong woman, you can tell that the lies and secrets have been a burden on her and you want her to just let it all go.


Kyle loves his country, his job and his woman…but not necessarily in that order.  He was devastated by Genie’s lies and betrayal, but when he started looking at the evidence with his head, instead of his heart, he saw that he may have jumped to the wrong conclusions and now makes it his mission to have Genie by his side, always.  It’s not an easy road for Kyle, especially when he doesn’t know Genie’s biggest secret, but you have to love a guy who’s willing to put it all out there knowing his heart may just get crushed again.


A fabulous fast-paced, sexy read from Cynthia Cooke and a great start to the Dead Sexy line at Entangled.
