Sometimes there is no escaping the past.

Hannah Jones is a relatively happy woman doing a job she loves, counseling high school students, owning her own place and working with her best friend. She seems to have everything she ever wanted. The only problem is she still wants the one who got away. Adam Cooper. The love of Hannah’s life and the man who broke her heart. She hasn’t heard from him in fifteen years and suddenly there he is asking her to be his friend on a social network. Faced with a choice, Hannah must decide if she should open herself to potential heartbreak once again and accept him, or hit decline and run as fast as she can.

Adam Cooper walked away from the one he loved fifteen years ago. But the passing time has done little to make him forget the sexy woman with wild hair and big brown eyes. Not a single day has gone by that he hasn’t thought about Hannah and wished she were back in his arms. Now, his little sister has convinced him to make an account on a social site and he can’t help but search for the woman who has invaded his dreams for more than a decade. He has the perfect job and the perfect family. There’s only one thingβ€”or personβ€”missing and he’s finally ready to get her back. But first, Hannah must be willing to accept his request.

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

Hannah Jones and Adam Cooper were college sweethearts. Β They were absolutely, positively in love with each other and bound for eternal happiness (or so Hannah thought) until Adam broke up with Hannah to focus on medical school. Β Hannah forged on with her life, now a high school guidance counselor, but she’s still looking for the Mr. Right that can push Adam out of her mind. Β But one simple friend request for a social networking site changes all that.

Adam Cooper decides that after fifteen years, he’s ready to settle down. Β The only problem is, he wants to settle down with Hannah. Β She’s the only woman he’s ever loved and he’s convinced that if he can get her to talk to him, they’ll be able to make a go of it. Β So he does what any 40 year old man does and sends her a friend request. Β

What comes next is a sweet, if sometimes a little to sappy and a tad unrealistic, story of getting a second chance at the life you always wanted. Β Hannah and Adam get to reconnect and move their social networking friendship (however short that was) into the adult relationship they would have had if Adam hasn’t dumped her in college. Β And while they were swept away in their love for each other, it seems that tidal wave also included Adam’s twin brother and Hannah’s best friend (also ex-college sweethearts who broke up in the aftermath of Adam and Hannah’s broken relationship).

While I loved the concept of the story, I couldn’t get past the quickness in which these characters moved…especially Adam’s brother (hello, you barely talk to someone and then upon your first meeting many years later you’re asking for forever and she’s saying yes????). Β I also thought the storyline with Adam’s son was a little too perfect, especially his upset over seeing his birth mom. Β Kids aren’t that perfect, even though we might wish them to be.

This was a cute and very sweet story, but in my opinion one that would have been a little bit more realistic if the characters had to work for their happily ever after a bit more.
