Reviewer’s Thoughts:
Honey Moore has been making life difficult for LAPD detective Jack Ogden since they were in high school. After one date, their budding romance turned into a feud which resulted in insults being flung, hair being dyed blue and Jack’s car being stolen. In fact, it was Jack who sent Honey to prison for stealing his car. So it’s a surprise when Jack finds Honey hiding out in his apartment.
Honey’s been trying to turn her life around after her eighteen months in prison. She owns her own garage and used to own a home…that is until it burned down. Now convinced someone is trying to kill her, she goes to the one place she figures she would be safe. Jack’s apartment. What she doesn’t count on is the chemistry they had in high school now being out of control and still wanting the one man she doesn’t think she could ever have.
Honey and Jack seem like an unlikely couple. He being from a very wealthy family with political aspirations and Honey barely scrapping by with her family full of criminals. But the author makes their paring work. Jack isn’t snobbish and doesn’t really care about social statuses tied to his family’s money. What he cares about is Honey burning him in all the right places. Honey has her moments where she questions her sanity in pursuing anything with Jack, but she finally figures it out.
This was a crazy ride. Arsonists, snobby rich people, crazy senators…you name it this book had it. And the pace of this one is fast. Almost too fast. Sometimes the dialogue between Honey and Jack was whizzing by so fast I had to go back and re-read it a couple times to make sure I knew what was happening. But it was fun, sexy and a great way to spend a few hours.
