Book two in the Red Velvet Rope series.
Sonya has been in love with Joshua for the past five years and for just as long he has taken her love for granted. When she confronts him about her needs and discovers he has no intention of pursuing a serious relationship with her, Sonya ends their affair.
Playtime is over.
Brokenhearted, Sonya sheds everything that reminds her of her life with Joshua. In the process she discovers the depths of her true nature and awakens inner sexual yearnings she never knew she possessed, as well as a painful past she thought long buried.
Old hurts and dark secrets cloud Sonya’s and Joshua’s every interaction, threatening to tear them apart forever. But Joshua refuses to allow Sonya to walk away from him again. She has long held his heart, but now he willingly surrenders his body to herβ€”a sexual Dominant submitting to his submissive. It’s something Joshua has never done for any woman, and never Sonya, but he’s determined to do anything to win Sonya’s love, no matter the cost.

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

The second in the Red Velvet Rope series, Playtime is Over gives us Sonya and Joshua’s story. When she realizes that she’s been kidding herself and Joshua will never see her as anything other than his sub, to be used for his sexual purpose only and not as someone he could have a future with, Sonya ends things with Joshua and walks away. In typical fashion, Joshua doesn’t realize he couldn’t see a future without Sonya in it until she walked away and refuse to see him.

I must say that my favorite part of this book has got to be when Sonya finally turns the table on Joshua. If he wants her back he’s going to have to play by her rules. It’s absolute genius! What woman scorned hasn’t at some point wished she could turn the tables on an ex and make them regret having broken their heart?

My only complaint was that this novella was far too short. I just felt that for having made such a statement of independence from Joshua, Sonya gave in way too quickly. I’m not saying she didn’t take it too far, but the storyline could have used a bit more meat to it. Other than that, I feel every woman will feel a connection with Sonya’s character. I, for one, looked forward to her coming in to her own and getting a little bit of revenge.
