Reviewer’s Thoughts:
If you’re someone who likes a book that reads like an episode of Dallas, then this book is for you.Β Secret affairs, lies and broken friendships were all over this story.Β Sometimes all of that was entertaining, while at other it bordered a bit on ridiculous.Β
I’m not one who likes soap operas, so I was a bit dumbfounded when Addison Hamilton started having an affair soon after discovering her husband was cheating on her.Β Even more surprising was her having an affair with a boy she has known since the day he was born and also happens to be her son’s best friend.Β WHAT!?!?!?!?!Β But wait…let’s throw in that he’s also her best friend’s son.Β Yep, that little scenario was a little too creepy for me and ruined what would have been an otherwise enjoyable romance.Β Jackson did wonders for Addison in helping her reconnect with the woman she used to be.Β But just when I was starting to put all the “ick” stuff out of my mind it would get thrown back into the story and creep me out again.
Some of the secondary characters were entertaining, like Addison’s sister.Β I looked forward to what might pop out of her mouth next.Β But her witty comments couldn’t always save the book from the other far fetched storylines (who really gifts their child a multimillion dollar mansion as a high school graduation gift??), in my opinion.
Truly, if you like a good night time soap opera, than this book will definitely appeal to you.Β It moves at the pace of a TV show, sometimes jumping around, but tying everything up at the end to a somewhat satisfying ending.
