Reviewer’s Thoughts:
The HEA I’ve been waiting for. It was fabulous and exactly what I wanted for Reid and Kate.
Ten years later, now a huge country music star, Kate Harrington is still missing the one who got away. With health issues and a need for a break, Kate uses her time off to find the man she left and find out if what they had could still be.
Kate Harrington and Reid Matthews were two characters from the Marking Time that I absolutely adored and was heartbroken over. Many hated the twenty-eight year age difference between them, but, to me, their romance was about who they were as people and how they fit perfectly together. Not how close they were in age. In Coming Home, we discover absence certainly does make the heart grow fonder and that age still makes no difference to Kate and Reid. What was even more amazing was how those ten years apart seemed to melt away and they were able to practically pick up from where they ended. They still had amazing chemistry and had truly learned from the events that pulled them apart.
Despite what their families felt about them before, they both vowed they were determined they would do what was best for them and not anyone else. That’s not to say their families, specifically Kate’s didn’t cause a bit of heartburn. But in the end, it all came down to Kate and Reid and their determination that this time they will be together forever.
Marie Force perfectly captured the essence of this couple. Despite the age difference, their relationship proves that love is timeless and ageless. It was an absolute pleasure to read Kate and Reid’s story and finally see them get their HEA they deserved.
