Reviewer’s Thoughts:
Tracy Cooper-Posey’s story Dead Double begins with an exciting standofff that is a thriller to the end. Β Logan Wilde is the classic agent with great aptitude, impeccable timing, excellent shooting habits, and an amazing ability to spot small bits of information and come to conclusions that save the day. Β What follows the exciting introduction is a very predictable storyline. Β The female protagonist, Sahara, is a struggling business owner with a business set to go bankrupt in about 6 months. Β She is spotted by Logan and mistaken for his previously deceased companion for whom she is identical, hence the name of the book Dead Double. Β She is recruited into the agency with a promise to save her business and that she can leave after the mission is complete. Β She and Logan fall in love. The end. Β Despite the predictability of the storyline I found myself captivated by the characters. Β The author does an excellent job of layering the personalities of the characters such that you become entwined in the story and care about how the characters. Β The plot contains sufficient twists to keep the story moving and wraps up neatly with a happy ending for the couple.
I will say that this was a slow read for me because the storyline was so predictable. Β I found myself pushing this book to the end of my reading list because I knew how it would end and the pace of the story slowed significantly after the hostage standoff at the beginning. Β The character development and storyline twists eventually pulled me in and carried me to the completion of the book.
