Reviewer’s Thoughts:
Julian had it all, late night rendezvous, money to blow, and an endless recession of no responsibility. That is until he gets caught with his pants down. Now he’s being forced to marry a woman he not only knows nothing about but can’t seem to remember in all his drunken stupor what she looks like. Meeting her after his little mishap with the wrong room turns out to be the best thing to ever happen to Julian but now he must come to grips with reality, swallow his pride, and admit that this woman has changed everything about him; a tough feet for a Lord of Night and Selfish Indulgence.
Izzy already knows she is plain and small but waking to a giant in her bed makes that an even bigger realization. Now having been caught in the crossfires of a mistaken bedroom she does what anyone would do, lie. Her intentions were clear; to protect the secret of two people she felt sure pity for. What wasn’t clear is just how hard she was about to fall. Now being forced into marriage may not be all that bad except that she is convinced the groom loves her not. Now her only choices are to live a life without love or run for freedom.
Julian and Izzy make quite the pair. He rivals in her humor and delights in her company as if she were a dear friend he’s known since childhood. Izzy, although mimicking these feelings, cannot help but have flashbacks of one hot night when he mistaken her room for anthers. As their feelings for each other grow they continue to attack their own thoughts with reasons the other does not love them, each swallowing their pride and hanging their heads. Julian incapable of admitting he is in love, a word he never believed in and Izzy incapable of realizing her own love for him.
I rather enjoyed this read. Bradley did a wonderful job of playing out the humor in this book alongside the blatant honesty of human emotion. I do love how she threw a little side romance in their as well for two characters held dear to Julian and Izzy. I’m keeping that one hush hush but might I say absolutely wonderful. She kept the book lighthearted without taking away from the depth of hurt and past hauntings. I look forward to reading this again in the near future.
