A vampire with a past stained with blood and a soul tainted with darkness, he is perfect in his self-control, never surrendering to his darkest desires. Now a beautiful witch in the shadowy fae underworld threatens to reawaken long denied hungers and tempts him with carnal pleasure.
Payne despises the incubus side of his mixed genes and refuses to give it free rein, but when the wickedly sexy Elissa offers him a possible way to help a friend, he finds it difficult to resist paying the price, even if it will be his undoingβ€”one night of passion at her command.
Elissa is a witch down on her luck until Payne comes crashing into her life. The dangerously handsome male is the key to fulfilling a promise she made, but he is also forbidden, and surrendering to the wildfire passion he stirs within her means risking ruin and death.
When one incredible night of fulfilling their deepest fantasies leads to more than just a pathway to keeping a promise and saving a friend, will they be able to overcome the barriers that stand between them and forever?

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

If we were to try to count the number of erotic vampire novels you’d probably end up with a raging migraine. So many vampires in all shapes and sizes. Not content to follow the crowd however, Heaton uses her unique way with words to create an underground world filled with Other creatures… Witches… Fae… Phantoms… you name it, it’s down there. And this is the world Payne steps in to on his quest.
Payne is on a mission. Retrieve a specific item if there is any hope of helping Chica. A Vampire/Incubus hybrid, Payne feels only contempt for his incubus side. A side he will now have to embrace if he is to help free his friend’s mate. Elissa is a Witch on the hunt for something precious that was taken from her and she means to get it back, even if she has to lie to Payne to do so.
For two species that so obviously hate each other, I found it to be poetic justice that Elissa and Payne seemed to be spending just as much time in bed together as they did out of it. There’s a special kind of spark between these two characters from the moment Payne lays eyes on Elissa. He’s got just the right amount of Alpha male and angst that made his willingness to submit believable.
I really wished I liked Elissa’s character more though. I wanted to like her. Under normal circumstances I probably would have. She’s a strong, independent heroine who does what she has to, no complaints and no excuses. But when paired up with Payne, who is literally putting himself out there for no other reason than to help a friend, her actions often seem self-serving.

That aside, Bewitch was undeniably hot. Although book 5 in the series, those unfamiliar with the Vampire Erotic Theater series will not have a problem following along. There is enough action and back story that someone new to the story will enjoy reading it and enough of Heaton’s signature sizzle to make any fan reach for the chocolate.

I am a lover of alpha males with dirty mouths, strong heroines putting alpha males in their place, and the Chicago Blackhawks. I'm a proud hockey mom who can often be found at the hockey rink cheering on my favorite forward, with my kindle close by.
