Review: Storm of Desire – Carla Marsi

Corporate attorney Samantha Greco needs some peace and quiet to come to a decision about her career. Instead, while an icy nor’easter rages outside, she finds herself trapped in a cottage on Fenwick Island with Aiden Rourke, a man she used five years ago when she ran from the heartbreak of her fiancé’s betrayal.
Aiden Rourke has loved Sam for years. For one glorious night she was his. But then she fled, wounding his ego and his heart. Reviewer’s Thoughts:

Carsi has given us a touching story about a woman and her fears; fear of commitment and of love. Growing up the daughter of the town slut must have made for a difficult life for Sam. Escaping as soon as she could, she runs away from the only man who ever really made her truly feel special. Despite the length of the story, Carsi managed to convey the character’s anguish and confusion in a way that felt natural, not forced. 

With a special way with words, Carsi treats us to an amazing tale of rediscovering love on the quest for self redemption. That is not to say that I did not have my own personal issues with the story. I felt that her mother’s betrayal had not excuse. So her forgiveness or rather, her willingness to turn the other cheek is an act of pure fiction and not the least bit believable. However, without the pretense of unnecessary drama, Storm of Desire is a beautifully written novella about discovering love for the second time and finding strength in oneself to overcome your fears.
