Reviewer’s Thoughts:

Kiya Mortenson is one of those lucky people who have been struck by lightning twice and walked away unharmed. From the moment she’s introduced in the book, I was utterly enchanted by her. I laughed and groaned and wondered what else could go wrong for her, and cheered when things went right. Her escapades with her old VW alone could have made this book; I don’t usually love first person but being in Kiya’s head just made this book great. I couldn’t put it down. Kiya doesn’t know anything about Travellers and just wants to play and take care of the five pugs and get paid to do it.
Peter Faa is the supernatural equivalent of a cop, and he’s investigating his own family of fellow Travellers trying to find a killer. He’s a stickler for rules and doesn’t like to do anything spontaneous. The scene where Peter and Kiya meet is one of the funniest scenes I’ve ever read in a book and it reaffirmed to me that Ms. MacAlister is a mistress of words, and that I can’t ever go wrong with one of her books.

The dialogue and the way we see the story from both Peter and Kiya’s perspective makes this a well-rounded and entertaining story. There are some spicy scenes in this book that add to the story especially when it reinforces the attraction Peter and Kiya have for each other. The supporting characters add a ton of humor to this story.  I love the thought that went into this world and the back story and myth of the Travellers. The world is well built and well established. I felt like it’s a story line that’s never been done before and it was very refreshing.

I’m looking forward to the rest of this new series; I’m hoping the pack of pugs will make an appearance in the next one.

3.    1 Whole Sugar Cube (White)
How to mix this cocktail
Muddle sugar cube (white) and lemon juice in a rocks glass. Fill with ice cubes. Add ABSOLUT Citron. Stir.
