Reviewer’s Thoughts
A Kiss Across Time is a paranormal romance. It is a mix of time travel, vampires, and has an interesting sexual twist with a bi-sexual mmf menage. This is the first book in the series. Taylor, is a history professor that determined to prove that a historical figure exists. She is has been fired from her job as a professor at a university and denied tenure because her boss feels her line of research is an embarrassment to the department. Taylor is upset and while going back to her apartment hears the lyrics of a song that are the exact words of the historical figure she is determined to uncover. She learns that a heavy metal group recorded the song and becomes determined to attend their concert. During this part of the book I was a little bored and it moved a little slow for me. It just seemed like the storyline was a little too abrupt and unbelievable. The storyline implied that Taylor and her boss had a sexual relationship but that was only one sentence. No details were given and it wasn’t ever referenced again. I also found it unbelievable that a university professor would live in the same building, next door to their students? Not only does she live next door but she also felt comfortable borrowing clothing from one student to attend the concert.
However, the storyline improved dramatically when Taylor made it to the concert and kissed the band member, Brody. She is transported through time and Tracy Cooper-Posey gives her trademark scorching, hot stamp on the encounter as Taylor and Brody travel back into time to become Toireasa and Breandan. In real time they meet backstage and are met in Brody’s room by another hunk, Veris, Brody’s lover. Need I say more? The action is immediate and hot like fire.
The novel includes elements of mystery and intrigue as well as more steamy love scenes. Taylor’s character was a little spacey. She couldn’t decide whether to stay with Veris and Brody or leave even after they proved themselves to her multiple times. There were other elements of the plot that weren’t believable. For example, a team of vampires follows Taylor to her neighbor’s apartment and kills 2 of the people that live there. She returns to her apartment to find the one remaining neighbor asleep by her door. That’s not the least bit realistic.
However, if you can get past that and the first few slow pages you’ll find a very good read. It didn’t deter me, and I found myself hating to get to the end of the book. The characters are multilayered and engaging. The two men are hot, hot, hot. I look forward to reading the next novels in the series.
