Fascinated by the dark fantasies in the journals sheβs discovered, and the two men who have now found a place in her life, Sara McMillan finds herself torn between her new life and her past. Now, more than ever, Sara identifies with the lost journal writer, Rebecca, and is certain that something sinister has happened.
In the arms of the sexy, tormented artist Chris Merit, Sara seeks answers about Rebecca and ends up discovering things about herself she never knew existed. Chris forces Sara to reconsider who she is and what she truly wants from life, but not before his dark desires threaten to tear them apart. Reviewer’s Thoughts
BEING ME picks up immediately from the ending of IF I WERE YOU. Β If you’ve read the book and you don’t remember what happened…Sara, after fighting with Chris, finds herself sitting in Rebecca’s storage unit looking through Rebecca’s things when suddenly she’s sitting in the dark.
Sara spends a lot of time in the dark. Β Chris keeps her in the dark about just about everything that doesn’t concern his feelings for her and her safety. Β Every time they take a step forward in sharing, they end up two steps back in their relationship. Β I loved Chris, but he was very hard and heartbreaking with Sara. Β Sara opened up to Chris about her past and the one thing she thought would scare him away, but he refused to let Sara in…even when she begged. Β It made me want to hate him, but instead I was just really sad for both of them.
Sara is still very involved with trying to solve the mystery of what happened to Rebecca. Β We’ll get resolution to that storyline by the end of this book and that outcome helps humanize Mark, owner of Allure Gallery (where Sara works). Β Mark’s hard outer shell starts to crack and we see he can be affected by things. Β I’m hoping we get to see a bit more of Mark in book three.
As we move to the next portion of the story, I look forward to seeing how Sara and Chris deal with their relationship. Β It’s clear their feelings for each other run deep, but I do wonder if they can ever get over all these emotional hurdles. Β I look forward to seeing just how Lisa Renee Jones is going to close out the series.
