13575518Forced by her family into an engagement with a man she can never abide, Antigone Preston knows only a scandal will save her from a loveless marriage. But knocking a man down to the ballroom floor with her fists brings dangerous consequences. She may have ruined her reputation, but now she’s endangered her heart…

The son of an earl and a career navy man, Captain William Jellicoe has no interest in the frivolities of Londonβ€”and even less in the institution of marriage. But there’s something steering him toward Antigone. He has never met anyone as brazen and unconventional as…himself. But will he risk it all for a woman who still has the breath of scandal hot on her lips?

Reviewer’s Thoughts

Antigone a young woman, who agreed to pretend to be engaged to man so her older sister could try to make a better match, is unhappy with what her mother is expecting out of her, she tries to find a way out.

William, a man who left in his youth to join the navy. Feels awkward and out of place back in society.

A Breath of Scandal was a captivating story. I enjoyed the plot and the twists and turns that where in it. I felt very drawn into the problems an hardships the characters faced. I felt like was living there lives. The story flowed very well. The character development was definitely there and not lacking. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys historical romance. I could barely put this down while reading it.Β  I am now looking forward to reading the rest of the Reckless Brides series and more books by Elizabeth Essex..

I give A breath of Scandal five cocktails.
