Reviewer’s Thoughts

Welcome to the Chalet, once owned by a wealthy family fallen on hard times. Where a woman makes a pact with something too evil to be imagined to save what was hers. A place once filled with love, struck by tragedy, where evil lurks, waiting for the day when it may return.

Madeline knows one day the Chalet will be hers and this fills her with trepidation. You see the Chalet has a history. Her very own ancestor was murdered in the foyer, as was a well-known mobster. Ghost hunters and the curious alike have come through the years, breaking open doors, cutting chains, doing whatever possible to explore the house with so many stories. Where so many people have gone missing. You see, the curious may go in, but they never come back out. When her dying mother asks Madeline to take her to the Chalet one more time before she dies, Madeline has no other choice but to comply. Granting her mother’s final wish she only hopes that whatever haunts the chalet understands that she means it no harm, else she goes missing as well. Little does she know how her life is about to change forever.

Set across the span of decades, this spooky horror-like story has a surprisingly romantic twist that this reviewer was not expecting. At only 33 pages, it’s hard to say much about this story without giving away a great deal. However, I found The Chalet to be both spooky and intriguing. I only wished it were longer.

  1. Thank you so much for reviewing, Iris πŸ™‚ I’m thrilled you enjoyed my Gothic tale. You may enjoy some of my other paranormal tales, like the vampire series Promise Me. I have been considering making a longer tale with The Chalet as its prequel, so thanks for the encouragement! πŸ™‚ Happy summer!

Great review! Tara’s novella sounds intriguing. She has the talent for mixing horror with romance. I definitely recommend her Promise Me series. Love the cocktail recipe! Will have to try it.
