Reviewer’s Thoughts
Although I wasnβt sure at first if maybe I had missed something when I began reading, it became apparent that as far as the author was concerned, the story for Josh and Connor began when they moved to Black Creek. That would be all well and good, except that it seems that what led to their move and was important enough that itβs mentioned several times. However, that is neither here nor there. The story as it stands was a remarkably decent read.
Why four cocktail glasses for just a decent read, you ask? Well that is a simple enough question to answer. One looks for certain benchmarks to be met when reading a book. This one just happened to meet most of those requirements for me. The New Wolf was an entertaining short read with engaging characters that kept me flipping the pages. That being said, I donβt think I have ever encountered characters so prone to getting themselves in to dangerous situations. Although this wasnβt much of what I would call a romance novel as the characters were already together and firmly in love, I found their relationship very sweet and endearing. What wouldnβt you do for the one you love?
What kept the story going for me was the mystery. Who is this mysterious lone wolf determined to decimate the fledgling pack? Why is he so determined to do so? These questions kept me going page after page, even when it seemed that there were more questions than answers. Now here we are, book 1 is over and I still have unanswered questions. However, I find myself anxious to read book 2 and find out what happens next. This to me is the mark of a good series. So, although I have not yet read books 2 and 3 of the series, I would recommend picking up The New Wolf, but only if you have the next books on standby. Otherwise the frustration of all the unanswered questions may kill you.
