We have HelenKay Dimon with us today chatting about her latest release, EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW. Β Help me in welcoming HelenKay back to Cocktails and Books.
Thank you so much for having me here today to talk about my newest release, EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW. This is one of the launch books for the new Cosmo Red-Hot Reads by Harlequin line.
People have asked if the book is more like of the story headlines on a cover of Cosmo or like Sex In The City.Β The answer: neither. My goal for the book went like this: add a sexy, serious hero + a strong, independent heroine + a juicy little secret = two people who fight the attraction but when they give in it is sooo good.
The heroine, Jordan, tries to ignore what she feels for Forest (the hero) because she thinks he isn’t her type.Β She makes some assumptions about who he is based on the way he’s portrayed in public, but she quickly figures out the man underneath is pretty compelling. Take a peek:
He waited until the coffee hit the cups and she started humming before he shifted off their bizarre conversation to one he could handle better, but only slightly. βFor the record, the interest isnβt over.β
She eyed him over the top of the mug. βWhat are you talking about?β
βYou said I was all about the chase. Well, I felt pretty caught last night and Iβm not going anywhere.β It was tempting to call in sick for the first time in his adult life.
A soft pink stained her cheeks as she fiddled with the edge of the placemat under her elbows. βWhat about the agreement?β
He took a sip of coffee, because at six in the morning he was already a half hour behind on his usual daily caffeine intake. βShould I know what that means?β
βThe confidentiality agreement.β
Between the words and her sudden refusal to give him eye contact, he stilled with the cup halfway to his mouth. βExcuse me?β
βAccording to the rumors, you make your bed partners sign a piece of paper promising not to talk.β She closed one eye and wrinkled her nose. βThatβs not on the site, by the way. Just whispers around the ladiesβ locker room.β
He was pretty sure sheβd lost her mind. βAn agreement in exchange for sex?β
βIβm not sure Iβd phrase it that way.β
He searched his mind for anything that could fit. The only time a woman he had sex with signed an agreement it was part of a separate business deal and unrelated to the bedroom activities. He had no idea how that news got around or how it got so tangled up.
Not that he was surprised. This sort of thing happened when rumors ran the day. βWell, call it whatever you want, but it sounds nuts.β
Jordan nodded. βI agree.β
When she continued to stand there, he decided to be as clear as possible. βAnd I donβt have that requirement.β
βCanβt lie, thatβs something of a relief.β
βYet, even with the possibility out there, you slept with me anyway.β That was the only part of this discussion he found interesting.
βLike you said yesterday, information is fine, but itβs better to find out the truth for yourself.β
How could a woman not be reeled in by a guy who turns out to be even better than she hoped? π
