It’s October, craft fair season in the Ozarks, and Carrie and Henry are helping their friend Shirley sell her quilts and Baby Cuddlys at the War Eagle Craft Fair.
After a mysterious cousin with ties to drug dealers appears, danger stalks the fair. When Carrie is abducted by killers following a breakfast at War Eagle Mill, she’s afraid she won’t escape because–though her aim in life has always been to help others out of problems–no one who can help her knows where she is.

I love mysteries. Especially when theyβre creatively out of the norm β as this one achieves beautifully. Itβs set in the Ozarks, during a craft fair, which, if youβve ever been to the Ozarks, is absolutely gorgeous. Ms. Nehring has a knack for painting a picture with words, and before you know it, youβre swept into the scenery and right in to the middle of the characterβs lives at the fair. The sights, the smells, the people β they all come alive with every turn of the page.
The main characters in the book, Carrie and Henry are uniquely fun. Theyβre enjoying their marriage and their easy-going lifestyle. But when Carrie receives a phone call from a woman claiming to know her, Carrie and Henry become skeptical of her intentions, and invite her over to find out just what it is that sheβs up to. When they meet her and discover that sheβs Carrieβs cousin, they find out that her life is full of dark secrets, and her connections to some nasty drug dealers end up putting Carrie, Henry, and several of their friends in danger.
A Fair to Die For is a very well written book with a wonderful mystery. Itβs full of well-developed characters and a plot that is interesting and exciting. Carrie and Henry were so much fun to get to know, and I was absolutely delighted to find out that this was the 7th book in the series! Iβll definitely be checking out the rest, and hope others will too!
(This book is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone.)
