Reviewer’s Thoughts

Oh my. It seems Ms. Grant is going to take us on one hell of a roller coaster of a ride. In this, the second installment of the Midnight Promise novel, we delve deeper into Malcolm’s confusion over his increasing feelings for the Druid. Considering the fact that Malcolm has always been written as a rather cold and unemotional character, it’s refreshing to finally see him feeling some emotion other than anger towards Deirdre for forcing him to do all those unthinkable things.

In this installment, Evie is faced with having to make a difficult decision that could mean her very soul. I started off liking Evie’s character, but I must admit that in this second part, her character is beginning to annoy me. She started off so strongly. All of a sudden she’s turned into someone so gullible that she’s doing things because a person online she’s never met tells her to!

I am however enjoying the way their relationship is developing. Considering what a loner Malcolm has been in all the previous books, it would be out of character for them to just jump in to a relationship. So having this gradual buildup is perfect and in keeping with the characters. I love the way the characters relationship is developing and the way it’s shaping the characters themselves. Now to eagerly await part 3!
