Reviewer’s Thoughts

Wow!  For a short story, this book certainly has a lot going on!  Madeleine is a bank analyst sent to assess a request for a loan by a Native American tribe.  The person trying to convince her to give them the loan is Tak, a very handsome, very mysterious and dreamy man that has drawn Madeleine’s attention.  From the moment they meet, something about one another feels familiar, and the two become very close, very quickly – giving in to their desires for each other.  But Tak’s desperation to raise money for his people living in poverty puts Madeleine and Tak in danger, and Madeleine’s goal of saving the casino is put in serious jeopardy.

I started this book and could not put it down.  It was incredible!  The relationship that develops between Tak and Madeleine is steamy and romantic.  They have fantastic chemistry, and it shows from the moment they set eyes on one another.  You can literally feel it leaping off of the pages.  Both Tak and Madeleine are well written characters, and I honestly hope that the author decides to write a sequel to this short story, as I really want to know what happens beyond the scope of this book.

Another thing about this book that I really enjoyed was the “paranormal” aspect of Tak and his coyote tribe – a nice change from the usual werewolf/shapeshifter stuff, and an interesting ancient ancestry feel to the story.  It really added depth to the characters and to the story itself, which is something a lot of short stories lack.

This was my first book by this author, and after reading The Shaman’s Temptation, I can honestly tell you that it will not be my last.
