Reviewer’s Thoughts
I love that Jennifer Armentrout found a new paranormal creature to feature in this series: gargoyles (or better known as Wardens throughout the book). Β This is a smart but short introduction into The Dark Elements Series that gives you a good taste of what is to come. Β Dez and Jas’s story unfolds sweetly, neatly and beautifully. It is clear that Dez loves Jas but why did he disappear for three years. Β Dez was everything to Jas and the day after her father declared they would be mated, he left. Β No explanation. Β Dez resurfaces and has seven days to prove to Jas that he wants to be with her forever. Β Can Jas forgive him and will they be together in the end? Β The ending is happy as it should be but the real meat of this story is how the rest of the characters for the series are introduced. Β You get just enough of Layla, Zayne, and Roth in DC (the mystery demon with the snake tattoo) to visualize where the story is going in the series. Β The new paranormal world that Jennifer has created in this short novella definitely wets your whistle and makes you eagerly anticipate White Hot Kiss in February.
