Raised to be arm candy, Penelope Stark’s life is turned upside down when she’s forced to plead guilty to crimes committed by her sister. Community service encourages her to stand tall. When her father insists she marry a brutal crony who makes her skin crawl, she escapes, calling herself Jane.
She finds refuge with Travis and Riley Adams of the J Bar C Ranch in Climax, Montana. They are in Port Aransas, Texas, to renovate a set of condos. Determined to take control of her life, and aroused by the two brothers, Jane is able to put her fears behind her, enjoying her body and theirs. Delighting in temporary freedom, she is devastated when her past catches up with her, bringing danger.
The Adams brothers bring her to the ranch for safety, and Jane eagerly embraces the life, realizing how much they mean to her. They offer marriage, but is it for love, or just a safe haven?

Reviewer’s Thoughts
Penelope (or Jane as she prefers to be called) is in real trouble. She’s on the run from her horrible father and his dastardly plans for her future. Finding herself in Texas, STILL in a very unfortunate situation, she meets Travis and Riley Adams, and things start looking up π
I’m not going to give away any spoilers, but I’m going to tell you that this is a really great story. Travis and Riley are heroic, and their whole family comes together to keep Penelope/Jane safe from harm. There is an instant chemistry between Travis and P/J. It takes a little longer with Riley, but it’s no less explosive. The sex is very hot, whether it’s one on one, or the three of them together, but it’s also very tender. It’s not just sex for sex’s sake.
Reece Butler never disappoints me. “The Bartered Bride” is further proof of that. I really enjoyed this book! If you like a good story, with excellent character build up, and well…SEXY COWBOYS…you’ll love this. It is the third in a series called, “Climax, Montana”, but it could be read as a stand alone. I do recommend that you read the others, just because they’re really great too.
