Reviewer’s Thoughts
NASHVILLE BOUND is a delightful story about two country music stars and their sizzling relationship while on tour together.
Michelle is a rich and famous country star, who started in the business at the age of fourteen and still has the girl next door image. Seven years ago when Shay Rogan joined Michelle’s tour, he was a country singer just starting out in the business and Michelle was the star of the show. From the first moment they met, there was a strong attraction between them. Even though Michelle knew she shouldn’t get involved with Shay, she couldn’t help herself. They were finally together one night, but Shay said some things that made Michelle feel he was using her. When Michelle’s father found out he fired Shay from the tour. Today Michelle’s star is fading in the country music scene and now Shay is a successful country star. Michelle’s record company insists she co-headline on tour with Shay. Shay and Michelle aren’t happy about touring together again, because they each feel betrayed by what happened seven years ago.
I enjoyed the tension between Michelle and Shay. They constantly bicker and argue while they prepare to start the tour. They are attracted to each other, but try to fight their feelings. Shay has a reputation as a hard drinking, hotel trashing playboy, but he also has a sweet, vulnerable side. Michelle has been managed by her father all her life and he insists she keep her squeaky clean image and that means not associating with Shay. Michelle is frustrated by her feelings toward Shay and has a hard time staying away from him and their sizzling chemistry. I felt sorry for Michelle, all her decisions have been made for her for so many years, that she isn’t sure what she really wants. Shay is attracted to Michelle’s good girl type but, thinks she is an uptight princess used to always getting her way. Shay is irresponsible and carefree and goes through life living by the seat of his pants. He both excites and scares Michelle.
Bethany Michaels writes an engaging story with believable characters, steamy sex scenes and when Shay and Michelle are together, the air combusts. This is the third in the Nashville series and each book is a stand-alone.
