I loved this book! I have only read one of the other books that came before it, and this one has a few spoilers for the two books before it, but you can still read it as a standalone and not feel lost. It had everything a great plot, awesome characters, smart banter, and romance!
Kate Townsend is in the tower charged with the murder of her estranged cheating husband. James Bancroft, Viscount Medford visits her in the jail and offers her a deal. If she will write a pamphlet detailing her side of the murder, he will pay for her defense and help her to enjoy life a bit before the trial. She accepts and after a late night pick up in his coach, she moves in with him.
James has a hard time being near Kate as he has been drawn to her from the beginning. He also doesn’t want to get involved too much because he knows he will want to swoop in like a Knight in Shining armor and fix all of her problems. That doesn’t work very well, and the fun begins!
