Emma Wilson had no idea that taking on this particular case would change her life. And that’s a good thing, one that she desperately needs. Her days are running into one, exhaustion overtaking her. Desperately lonely but afraid to experience another painful and humiliating breakup, she has thrown herself into work. At 28 she has become a leading Australian environmental lawyer. While her career has taken off, she has little time left for friends and a social life and her sex life is all but non-existent.

At the end of a trial two years in the making she is just looking forward to no longer having to deal with her opposing solicitor, Nicholas Daniels. Since beginning to work as his adversary, she has clashed with him repeatedly. He is cocky, arrogant and demanding and has had to fight him at every turn.

Then she meets him. He immediately sets her body on fire. Trying to put him out of her mind is impossible and she finds herself drawn to him like a moth to the flame. A steamy love affair develops between them after a weekend shared on the Gold Coast, but their passionate romance is tested by Nicholas’ fears and the two greatest challenges of Emma’s life. Will they survive?

Reviewer’s Thoughts

ADVERSARIES’ LUST is a story of two attorneys, living in Australia, trying to maneuver a long distance relationship.Β  Β Attorney, Emma Wilson meets Nicholas Daniels when he is the opposing counsel on a case she is handling.Β  When they shake hands for the first time, they both feel the sizzling chemistry.Β  Nicholas is a serial dater and has never been interested in having a long lasting relationship, until he meets Emma.Β  Emma’s last boyfriend cheated on her and now she rarely dates.Β  Emma is a very successful attorney and has risen up the ranks quickly because she works all the time to fill the empty void in her life. Β Emma is hesitant to go out with Nicholas because she doesn’t want to get hurt, but she can’t resist their strong attraction. Β Although they live in different states, they decide to try to maintain a long distance romance.Β  They are hard working and love what they do, but their jobs are demanding.Β  At this point in their careers it’s impossible for either one of them to relocate. Β They have insecurities and fears about relationships, but decide to embark on one anyway. Β There are many obstacles to overcome and they have to decide if all the hard work is worth it. Β Nicholas is handsome, intelligent and always thoughtful and kind to Emma.Β  Since he has never been in a relationship, he’s not really sure what he is doing, but tries his best to figure it out.

I decided to read this book because it sounded interesting and the prologue caught my attention.Β  However, the book didn’t live up to my expectations.Β  The prologue never related to anything in the book and I’m confused why it was included. Β Β Emma and Nicholas were nice, but they both acted immature for their age and they called each other baby a little too often.Β  At times, there was too much detail given and I found myself skimming the pages. Β There were also some words in the book that I’m not familiar with, I’m assuming they are Australian terms, since the characters live in Australia.Β  Nicholas and Emma are likeable characters and there was a strong chemistry between them.Β  This is a nice romance, with some suspense and a cliffhanger ending.
