I know what you’re thinking. “You were such a jerk, Nick!” Believe me, I know I screwed up the best thing I had going in my life, but that was kind of my thing. I’d learned how to run cons before I could even form complete sentences, and I’d always been selfish. But I changed. Lila forgave me, my brother and I were getting along, and I was trying to make a name for myself in the music world.
At least that was what I was trying to do when I negotiated my way into the recording studio with pop superstar Sadie Sinclair. I thought it would be a piece of cake—charm my way into her heart and into her record label’s good graces.
Just when I thought I had it all figured out, I got mixed up in a web of lies, manipulation, and deception. A web that had me questioning my motives and desires altogether.
Was the fame and fortune really worth the price?

If you read Give Me Something, then you probably walked away with a bad taste in your mouth for Nick Dammery. I couldn’t decide whether to love him or hate him in Give Me Something but I was definitely leaning toward hate. The funny part is I actually ended up enjoying this book more than Give Me Something which surprised me since I didn’t “love” Nick at the end of Give Me Something.
At the start of Taking Something, we find Nick has cleaned up his life a bit, he is a DJ in high demand and has mended fences with not only his best friend Lila but his brother Tucker (these two happen to be married and expecting a baby). Nick enjoys being a DJ but what he really wants to do is produce music. On of his gigs as a DJ gives him the opportunity. And if there is anything we know, Nick doesn’t miss out on opportunities. He sets out to charm the pants off record executive Hollace Westwood who is making an appearance at the club where Nick is DJing. Nick does what Nick does best and charms Sadie Sinclair, Hollace’s number one client, into giving him a chance to produce her new album.
Off to LA, Nick goes. Nick’s plan is simple: sleep with Sadie, make her feel special, get her to record the songs the record label needs, establish his career as a producer and move on. As we know, nothing is ever that simple. Not only does Sadie have a whole laundry list of her own problems but Nick’s intrigued by Sadie’s assistant, Gia Grayson. There seems to be more to her than meets the eye.
Nick’s old self (the one who demands he focuses on nothing but his career) and Nick’s new self (that wants what Lila and Tucker seem to have) are at odds. Which way will he go and will he change his ways permanently? What is Gia hiding and what does she have to offer Nick? If you want to know, then read this one fast!
When I’m not writing or playing the part of wife and mother, you can find me dancing back-up for Beyonce, singing back-up for Miranda, or sunning myself on the beach with a drink in hand. Here’s the thing about being born and raised in a small town—you have a very vivid imagination! Now, I channel it all to create stories where the girl always ends up with the right guy, first kisses are magical, and a happy ending is just that!
