She should be appalled—she knows all too well what happens when a man has too much control—but a deeper, darker part of her is fascinated…

4.5 Cocktails

Down on Her Knees is the third book in the Dare Me series by Christine Bell. While this book can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel, I found its best read as part of the series. Courtney and Rafe first appeared together in Down the Aisle in this series. I loved that we get to see what happens with all that chemistry.

Courtney DeLollis is a very single and happy woman. She is a survivor of a controlling and abusive relationship. Therefore, any and all dominate men is something she wants no part of. Rafe is someone she meet at a friend’s wedding. While he is dominate, he calls to her.

Detective Rafe Davenport is a hot and sexy man who is also a Dom. It’s easy to tell how good of a Dom he is when he sends Courtney the survey to fill out in a way to help him not only explore her boundaries and her sexuality. Rafe does a great job of building Courtney’s self-confidence up.

The chemistry between Rafe and Courtney is scorching hot. They practically burn up the pages. I loved how Rafe pushed Courtney out of her comfort zone and got her to enjoy what Rafe was showing her. The sex scenes were blistering. I loved how creative Rafe was with Courtney.

I found this book well written. The main and secondary characters were realistic and interesting. While I enjoyed reading this book, I would have loved to see a more softer romantic side to Rafe. At times, it is hard to tell he loves her and not just wants her. Overall, this was a great book. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
