CUT TOO DEEP is a story about fighting back and taking control of your life. Β For the Hadley Walker, for her sanity, she had to do these things to get past the horrendous things that happened during her childhood. Β But it was also about the power of love and how when you find the right person, they can help you slay those demons and reach for your dreams.
Hadley’s story isn’t an easy one. Β She suffered unspeakable, first in the hands of her father, then at the hands of the people who were supposed to protect her. Β But no matter what Hadley thought about herself, she did have a spark that helped her attempt to regain some kind of control over her life. Β Her inability to trust anyone was understandable, but the more Hadley opened up to people (mainly best friend Mac and Miller), the more she was able to find the strength to fight back and rebuild her life.
I really enjoyed the romance between Hadley and Miller. Β Despite his coming off as an arrogant ass in the beginning, we discover a Miller who would do anything for Hadley. Β The only time he really pushed her was when he felt the need to protect her, but even then he found a way to discuss it with her and make sure she understand why he had to do that. Β He may have felt very strongly for Hadley,Β he tried very hard to make sure Hadley knew she was safe with him…even if they didn’t agree, and he was always there for her.
Some of the secondary characters were great. Β I loved Miller’s giant Italian family and how they openly embraced Hadley. Β I loved Mac as Hadley’s best friend. Β Just like Miller, he knew when to give Hadley what she needed.
A solid read, with solid characters. Β The storyline did drag in some spots, but overall it was a book I enjoyed.
Dear Ms. Walker,
I know exactly who you are. Youβre the beautiful and intriguing young woman who shakes like a leaf when I get near you, but watches me with heated intensity every morning when I arrive to work as though you would like to undress me.
Iβm pleased to learn the little voice in your head won out and you decided to mail your letter. Perhaps with distance between us, I wonβt intimidate you, and we can get to know each other properly. I would very much like to know more about you.
I am receiving many letters, but let me put your mind at ease. Iβm not opening any of them. Iβm not interested in words from strangers that are obviously looking for ten tiny minutes of fame. Yours, however, spiked my curiosity. I wasnβt sure if it was the same Hadley Walker that brightens my mornings until I smelled the delicate perfume on the outside of the envelope, and knew with certainty it was you.
You would like to know what I miss the most about home. Iβm a man. Your answer, Ms. Walker, is sex. Iβm accustomed to having a woman in my bed. There are no women here, and itβs lonely. Would you be willing to keep me company? Fucking through words can be very erotic. Chances are, you squirmed in your seat, shocked by what Iβve written. Your panties are wet, and youβre reading the above sentence over again. Perhaps youβre cursing me, but it wonβt stop you from reading on. You said youβre drawn to me, and I am rather enamored with you as well. There is nothing for you to be βcuriousβ about. Itβs purely sexual attraction that draws you to me and me to you. Iβve wanted to have you since the first time I saw you watching me. The other morning when your big doe eyes peered up at me, and you knew Iβd caught you, I wanted to drag you into the elevator and fuck you until you screamed my name so loud, the entire building heard you. Iβve thought about nothing else since. I saw in your eyes that you wanted me to make you come right there in the building lobby. Iβm hard thinking about it.
What do you say, Ms. Walker, would you care to have letter sex with me? When Iβm free of this shit hole, I promise to deliver the real thing, and then you can determine if Iβm still mesmerizing.
Regards,
Miller Genetti
