The Sweetest Scandal

Beautiful, exuberant, and stubborn Georgiana Black has more spirit than sense—which she learns when an ultimatum to the Earl of Beckenham ends their engagement. Six years later, Georgie is less concerned with impending spinsterhood than with making sure her young sister doesn’t make the same mistakes she did. But soon Georgie stumbles into a scandalous encounter with none other than her former fiancé. Beckenham is still breathtakingly desirable.

The Truest Temptation

Beckenham’s brief engagement to Georgie taught him one thing: when it comes to a wife, he wants a woman who will do her duty and cause no trouble. When the fiery Georgie falls unexpectedly into his arms, Beckenham remembers just how lushly delectable she is. Suddenly, the idea of actually marrying Georgie is irresistible. In a battle of wills, can passion conquer pride?

Reviewer’s Thoughts

The Greatest Lover Ever is a sensual romance book. The heroine is Georgiana Black. Georgie and our hero, Lord Marcus Beckenham were destined to marry. They grew up together and at the magical age of 18 their engagement becomes reality, and it appears that the two are on a smooth course to a very happy ending. However, a scoundrel claims to have compromised Georgie and presents proof in the form of a lock of her hair. Lord Beckenham is irate and determined to duel with Pearce to defend Georgie’s honor. The story takes a dramatic twist when Georgie takes matters into her own hands and issues an ultimatum to Lord Beckenham. The duel is thwarted, but the cost is very high—the end of their betrothal.

I really liked that Georgie was independent, spunky, and fun. I thought that Marcus was a little stiff and dramatic. I thought the one argument and ultimatum was a little flimsy to use as an end to a betrothal of lifelong friends. However, this is a historical romance, and I suppose it’s feasible that such an argument could have ended a betrothal during that time period. The beginning of the book was a little tedious, but I think the author was making sure to lay the foundation for the later parts of the book where both the main characters analyzed their past mistakes and personalities. I liked the self-analysis portions. They were well-written and made me feel like the characters were real people. I think that part more than any other drew me into the storyline.

Six years later Georgie has decided to be a spinster, but she is intent on making sure that her sister Violet makes a successful match. Marcus has decided that he is ready to marry……but it will be to a woman that is the complete antithesis of Georgie. Both characters have an overabundance of stubbornness and pride. However, the love between them cannot be denied and when Georgie is in a compromising position—-it’s Marcus to the rescue. Georgie and Marcus begin to deal with their personalities and realize that they should be together. I loved the way the author showed the characters working through the process of denying their own stubborn ways and moving from being all about themselves as individuals and instead thinking of themselves as a unit.

I enjoyed this book. It was passionate without being raunchy. The characters were well-developed. The storyline was engaging, and the reader is rewarded at end by witnessing an absolutely flawed, but beautiful story of true love.
