Reviewer’s Thoughts
Overall Series Rating: Β 3.5 Cocktails
I really liked the premise of this trilogy and how it was written. Β Three college friends, distanced by the death of one of their own, come together to avenge the death. Β Each of the friends stories would be told by a different author.
Austin, Hunter and Alex had been tight in college, but with life, their relationship lost it’s closeness and they only managed to get together once a year. Β But woven into their relationship was the death of their friend (or ex-girlfriend in the case of Hunter) Sarah. Β It’s Sarah’s death, and the culprit behind that death, the bring the friends back together as they avenge Sarah’s death at the hands of Austin’s father.
I’m a bit sadistic, so I was really looking forward to this, especially when the evil doer was one of the guy’s dad. Β And while daddy dearest, Jason, was evil and was worth the effort of taking him down and his web of evil treachery had a pretty far reach, I found after book one I just didn’t care what else happened with Hunter and Alex’s story. Β I knew we needed to get their story so we could see everything fall out for Jason, but to me that all could have been tied up in Austin’s story. Β Incorporate the master plan in one story, involving all the characters, rather than breaking it up
Of all the books, AVENGE ME was my favorite, maybe because out of all the characters Austin had the most to lose. Β Hunter and Alex were just trying to avenge their friend, but Austin stood to lose a lot more because it was his father.
Overall, it was a decent series, but it wasn’t one of my favorites.
