Elizabeth’s Thoughts

What a wild ride! Kresley Cole wrote her ass off on this book! There are new worlds to experience, cryptic answers to long-awaited questions, hot, interspecies mating and an introduction to some characters that have been mentioned in previous books. If you are a fan of the Immortals After Dark series then this is a MUST read! 

The emotional roller coaster ride that is Lanthe and Thronos made me completely dizzy. I despised Lanthe throughout most of the book because she was a selfish b*tch. Granted, most Sorceri are, but I really expected more out of Lanthe.  Eventually she came around, but the journey to get there was tough.

We get several treats in Dark Skye including a whole chapter from Nix’s point of view, which was equally awesome and post-apocalyptic at the same time. We also get to catch up a little with Cadeon, Holly and the twin girls they had! There are many other surprises in store for the readers so I’ll say no more, except you HAVE to read this book!! I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I pulled my hair out and now I am wondering which couple the author is going to torture…uh, I mean write about next! 

Sheri’s Thoughts

Lanthe and Thronos loved each other as children, and then the actions of others and bad choices on their parts, have turned them into mortal enemies while still being fated mates.

I really loved Lanthe, she has this outward appearance of being this selfish Sorceress, and she tries to be, but she can’t hide that core of selflessness, the core that risked her powers over and over again to save her sister’s life. She’s done some bad things, including causing the grievous injury that Thronos lives with daily. By some standards, she isn’t good, but she isn’t evil. She’s just trying to survive in the ever changing world of the Immortals.

Thronos, he’s the epitome of honorable man, he has a one track mind, claim his mate, even if another part of him wants to kill her for her treachery. At his core, he loves her, he wants her and won’t let anything stand in his way, not even her.

I loved the trials aspect of this story, they had to go through some horrible things, but it allowed them to learn to forgive each other and love again. This is not an overly spicy book, see Thronos honor issue, he won’t claim her unless they’re married. To marry her, he has to take her to the one place she’s sworn never to set foot in. They struggle, and this book is really about that journey, it’s about both Thronos and Lanthe growing up and growing together. They both have to choose each other, and I think that’s a great example of true love, to choose to love your partner.

It had a lot of past characters and some of the best secondary characters make appearances, we get a glimpse of a mystery since the beginning, and I loved every second of this story. I couldn’t out it down, and I highly recommend it to fans of the series.
