Review: Catching Eagle’s Eye by Samantha Cayto

SEAL sniper, Dane Sawyer, is known as Eagle Eye for his deadly aim. He’s also good at hiding his identity as a gay Dom. Childhood trauma has led him to live and play deep in the closet. Then a bullet to his thigh lands him on leave and in the incredible hands of a hot ensign assigned to get him back in the field.

Will Chadwick is happy to finally be living as an openly gay man in the Navy. And as a physical therapist, he’s used to coaxing bad asses like Dane into doing their PT. Harder for him is resisting the temptation that Dane presents. He’s a patient and hiding his sexuality. A prudent man would keep his distance.

But Dane doesn’t know how to quit, and seducing Will has become a mission. The budding sub in Will can’t resist the Dom’s commands. If he could only make Dane see that being a man doesn’t mean hiding his true self.

Reviewer’s Thoughts

One of the best parts of reviewing is getting the opportunity to read new to me authors. Such was the case here. Having never read anything by Samantha Cayto, I approached this book with a healthy dose of skepticism and a decent amount of expectation after reading the blurb. In my experience M/M romances tend to differ greatly. Either they are rushed and it seems like all the characters do is have sex, or the characters are portrayed as very feminine in their mannerisms. Neither was the case here. Both the main characters were very masculine in attitude and mannerisms, the one only deferring to the other at times of play due more to his submissive nature and not the fact that he was an openly gay man.

I enjoyed almost every minute of Catching Eagle’s Eye. It was a sweet story with characters that were pretty much likeable. Will was perfect amounts of masculine; take charge attitude and submissive nature to his superior officer and lover. Dane on the other hand had to grow on me. I have to admit that he did come across as a creepy stalker on more than one occasion. I get that he was attracted to Will, but following him from work and following him to a bar is called stalking. My one pet peeve though has got to be Will’s willingness to go back in the closet for Dane after he was so vocal about how important it was for him to be out.

That set aside, it was an enjoyable and romantic read that I would consider reading again. So I would definitely recommend.
