Phillip Archer spent the past ten years playing as a starting defensive end in the NFL. After a career-ending injury he was forced to rethink his life, and his future. Stepping down from the hustle and bustle of the limelight and taking a job as the offensive coordinator of a small Pac-12 school seemed like the perfect remedy to get things back on track and kick-start this new chapter in his life.
Richard Olson was single, independent, and loving life in Southern California. He had his career that he loved as a veteran lifestyle reporter for the local news, and that was all he needed to keep him happy and warm at night. Or so he thought. The day he ran into his old college crush Phillip, all bets were off.
The only question that remains is who will win, or if perhaps they both end up playing for keeps in a game of winner-take-all.

Reviewer’s Thoughts
“Excite Me”, book three of the Sultry So Cal series by Taylor Brooks was a real treat. I enjoyed everything about it. The main characters are very easyΒ to care about. They’re good guys…the kind of guys you’d like to hang out with, drinking a beer and BS-ing. Their connection seems real, and I like that. ItΒ didn’t feel forced.
Phillip is an ex-NFL player whose career was cut short due to an injury. He decides to pursue coaching, and he arrives in San Diego to lead the team atΒ a smallish school. He’s excited about his new endeavor. While he’s out walking, he happens to run into his college math tutor, Richard, who now works forΒ a local television station as the lifestyle reporter. Richard had a big crush on Phillip in school, but never did anything about it.
The story takes off from there, and it takes off like a rocket. The characters’ instant chemistry, combined with some dramatic soul searching from both men, willΒ suck you right in. This is an intense and emotional book. There is romance. There is conflict. There is angst, but you don’t feel like you’re drowning in it.Β Then, there’s the sex. The SEX!Β The scenes weren’t just hot. They were nuclear, but it was also tender and loving. It’s obvious that these men belong together,Β and they’ll do everything in their power to make sure that they get there.
There was nothing about “Excite Me” that I didn’t like. I was sucked in right away, and I felt heavily invested in Phillip and Richard. I loved them. I achedΒ for them. I rooted for them. I wanted MORE of them. When the book ended, I wanted to call up Taylor Brooks and beg her to drop everything and write aΒ sequel for me…and only me because I don’t want to share them.
I would definitely recommend this book to all fans of manlove, but I would also recommend it for anyone who’s never really gotten into it, but want to try. It willΒ make you understand that a relationship between two men can be as exciting, loving, and sexy as one with a man and a woman. Go get it!
