Reviewer’s Thoughts
Elodie Mitchell worked as a waitress struggling to survive. She always struggled with her weight and due to her size, earned the scorn and ridicule of almost everyone in town. Elodie has had a rough life barely surviving and just about to be kicked out of her apartment. Elodie meets two men that make her want for more.
Beau Davidson and Beck Davidson are brothers new to town trying to make a life on a ranch. They both quickly fall in love with the waitress at the local dinner. They want to spoil and spend as much time with her as they can. It was hard to get a good picture of each brother independent of the other because they spent much of their time together.
Cody is Beau and Beck’s younger half-brother. He was a professional bull rider who is now looking to open his own ranch. Cody falls head over heels for Elodie when he meets her. Cody seems to open up to Elodie in ways he did not open up to other’s around him.
The connection between Cody, Beau, Beck, and Elodie is blistering. I liked how they all tried to make the relationship work. The sex scenes were hot. I liked that not every sex scene was a ménage. It was easy to see that all three men cared for Elodie and were willing to do whatever it took to make it work.
Mastering Elodie is the first book in the Grizzly Pines series by Paige Warren. I found this book well written with a very believable plot. There was a great mix of suspense and romance. The main and secondary characters were interesting. The ending was somewhat predicable, however, this book was more about the journey to the end than the end itself. Overall, this was a fascinating book.
