Again Banner BTAgain.coverHow far would you go for a second chance?

Eleven years after flunking out of college, Kate has finally hit rock-bottom. Losing her job and boyfriend in one drunken night, she’s determined to fix her life by going back to the moment when she let partying and sex take over. And do things right this time. At twenty-nine, she heads back to freshman year of college, with a catch.

Pretending she’s nineteen with a new roommate and full class schedule is easy. When she meets her shy, sexy and seven-years-younger RA, Carter, following her self-imposed sobriety and celibacy rules is proving to be anything but.

A senior enduring years of regret, Carter is more than ready to graduate. He’s anxious to move on from the party his freshman year where he witnessed his frat brothers about to commit a sexual assault. Instead of doing the right thing and stepping in, he looked the other way and left. His guilt has made for a lonely four years.

When he meets the new freshman on his floor, spunky and confident Kate, he wonders if his time as an outcast has finally come to an end.

Kate and Carter’s growing friendship and undeniable attraction make it harder to hide the demons from their respective pasts. But when their secrets are finally revealed, will their chance at starting over together still be there?

Reviewer’s Thoughts

AGAIN had an interested premise and one that I thought I would really, really enjoy. Β But as I read the story, I had to wonder is going back to “redo” college the way Kate did really the way to change the course your life is taking.

Kate is a hard character to like. Β She relies on alcohol WAY too much, her best friend drinks just like Kate and her boyfriend is actually her married boss. Β So after losing her boyfriend and her job in the same day, Kate decides going back to college to try and “redo” where she thinks her life went wrong is the way to go. Β For most people I would applaud them for trying to change, but Kate does it in a bit of a creepy way. Β She’s 29, pretending to be 19 and living in a freshman dorm. Β Really?

For a woman who knows she has an issue with alcohol, the last place she needed to be was living on a college campus, in the dorms, where partying and availability of alcohol was probably going to be an issue. Β Then there is the issue of a very adult Kate drinking with minors. Β You thought you’re life was hell now, imagine what would have happened if a party she was at got busted by the cops. Β YIKES!

Then there was her relationship with RA Carter. Yes, he’s 22, and legal enough for Kate to be with, but it felt weird. Β Yes, Carter was trying to rebuild his life after a horrible error in judgement when he was a freshman. Β Yes, he could sympathize with Kate for wanting to start over and forget the past. Β But I just couldn’t get with their relationship. Β He seemed like the adult and she the child. Β He was saddling himself with a woman who really couldn’t help herself. Β It just felt like too much for him to deal with.

I enjoyed the author’s writing style and the unique voice she gave to this New Adult book. Β But unfortunately, this was a story I couldn’t connect with and a heroine I didn’t really want with the hero.
