22876275The moment the short-lived apocalypse came to an end, life returned to normal. Mortals continued on with their oblivious existences while the earth healed and flowers again bloomed, the devastation instantly wiped away. It was as if it had never happened.

But it did.

Luce knows. He’s cursed to remember every moment, forced to live with everything he has done. Suddenly finding himself out of confinement, he’s faced with a decision: where to call β€œhome”. Free will turns out not to be the freedom he expects when the only thing he wants doesn’t know he exists.

Serah woke up with no memory of where she came from or who she was before that moment. Struggling to adapt to the world as a mortal, she’s haunted by a set of bright blue eyes that always seem to be watching her. She can’t shake the feeling that he could be her salvation… if only she can remember him before it’s too late.

Lucifer didn’t fall from Grace alone. He’s not the only angel with a grudge, nor is he the only one fascinated by his beautiful mortal.

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions…

Reviewer’s Thoughts

Poor Satan. Β Did you ever think you’d see those word written (or said for that matter)? Β Well, with REIGNTITE, JM Darhower has made me saying it. Β She has me wanting to wrap my arms around the sometimes douchey bastard and tell him everything was going to be alright. Β I was rooting for him to get his girl and learn how to live with his new reality.

Things are different for Luce now. Β No longer bound to Hell, he basically roams the small town where Serah now lives, as a mortal, without her memory. Β Even though she doesn’t remember anything about her life before, she instinctively knows Luce and is still drawn to him. Β Unfortunately, that means Serah becomes a pawn to use against Luce when his old angel faction decided to pick up where Luce left off before he was banished and banished to hell. Β But it’s only when Serah’s life hangs in the balance that Luce is able to prove to himself, his father and his brother, Michael, that love has changed him.

Luce is most definitely a broken man, who’s struggling to overcome what he did in the past with who he is now. Β He’s changed because of his love for Serah. Β He knows that he may not be the best thing for her, as evidenced by her now living as a mortal, but he can’t let her go, because she’s eases him. Β But I don’t think he every truly believed he deserved her until the moment he had to make the choice between her and everything he had believed in before. Β The moment he did that, things changed for Luce. Β He was never going to be who he was before he became Satan, but he was more willing to hold onto the lightness Serah saw in him, instead of being consumed by darkness.

If you’re looking for something that’s a bit different and puts a unique spin on the story of Lucifer, the entire EXTINGUISH series is one you should definitely pick up.
