22835515Greyson Dark doesn’t like strangers in his territory.

Eva Waverley doesn’t like being told to keep out.

After her father’s suicide, hiking is the only thing that makes the bullying in Eva’s new school bearable. When Greyson rescues her from a tumble, she falls for him despite his autocratic demeanor. She’s leaving for college soon—what does it matter if she crushes on a man everyone else fears?

Greyson suspects Eva is his true mate, but duty demands he remain aloof. She doesn’t know he’s a long-lived Sentry, sworn to protect Earth from an ancient alien menace. When she leaves for college, he’s relieved, but four years later she comes back, all grown up and more gorgeous than ever.

Greyson can’t afford to care for a mortal woman, no matter how compelling. Hackers are attacking Stronghold, the Sentries’ net, and Spiders are swarming beyond the moon, but when Eva is attacked, he discovers he can’t just let her die…

Reviewer’s Thoughts

Squeeeeeeeeeeee!!  I am so happy to have read “Dark” from Erin Leaf! I’d like to start this review off by saying that I love Erin Leaf’s books.  She’s just a fantastic author, and none of her books have disappointed me, and she’s kept up that winning streak by writing a really great one here.

This was truly a unique story (and you know how much I love unique stories). I’ve read shifters, vampires, werewolves, aliens, and all sorts of other nifty creatures, but Sentries who are protecting earth?  Nope.  This was a first for me.

I don’t want to give too much away here because it really is something that you should read for yourselves.  I don’t want to spoil all the goodies that “Dark” is bringing.  It’s like Santa, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy, and a Leprechaun with a pot of gold all rolled into one.  You have Eva.  She’s a misfit in her senior year of high school, and being in the woods helps to ease the pain in her life.  Greyson is a grumpy man who wants to keep Eva out of “his” woods.  He warns her away and warns her away, but it’s just not working.  Eva goes off to college for four years, but neither one of them forget each other.  Now, Eva’s back, and she wants to see Greyson again.

This book is just so rich.  The characters are well developed and have real chemistry.  Greyson and Eva have a connection that is palpable…and it’s VERY sexy.  The background characters are also outstanding.  They don’t just take up space and are important to the story.  There is action, a mystery to solve, and political intrigue too.  There is also a bit of humor, and I really enjoy a book that makes me laugh along with all the awesome smexytimes.

I want EVERYONE to read “Dark”.  It’s just that good!  There is a sequel as well called “Dusk” that I just cannot wait to read.  Please, do yourself a favor. Treat yourself to this book.  I promise you won’t be sorry!
