Reviewer’s Thoughts

Cecilia Riley is at a crossroads in her life.  She’s spent her entire life trying to please her father and is starting to wonder if it’s worth it.   Everything starts to unravel in Cecilia’s life as she spends time with her family before her brother’s wedding.  The cause of many of her problems and a constant irritant is Shane Donovan, a former bad boy, who now runs a successful company.  Shane’s always baiting Cecilia and even though she doesn’t want to be attracted to him, she can’t seem to help herself.  Being around Shane, her family and some of her childhood friends starts to make Cecilia question the choices she’s made in her life.
Shane can’t stop thinking about Cecilia.  She appears tough and unapproachable, but he senses her vulnerability.  Cecilia is feisty and isn’t afraid to speak her mind and lets Shane know exactly what she’s thinking.  Shane appreciates Cecilia’s beauty, brains and her smart mouth.  Shane is a sexy, bossy guy and always trying to tell Cecilia what to do.  No one has ever had the nerve to boss Cecilia around, but Shane somehow sees through Cecilia’s unapproachable exterior.
THE WINNER TAKES ALL is a funny, rousing story about two families brought together as they prepare for a wedding.  There are lots of interesting and fun secondary characters adding another element to the story.  The characters love to give each other a hard time and no one holds anything back.  There are sarcastic barbs, raised eyebrows and unasked for comments, advice and opinions.   There is a strong sexual pull between Shane and Cecelia, although they try to hide their feelings, they aren’t fooling anyone.  This is the second book in the Something New series, each one is a stand-alone and I can’t wait for the next installment.
