We have Wynter Daniel’s with us today, stopping by to chat about her release THE SURROGATE HUSBAND. Β Help me in welcoming Wynter to Cocktails and Books.
Thanks so much to Shannon for letting me stop by and blog here today. How cool is it that she named her blog after two of my favorite things in the world? I love me some cocktailsβCosmopolitans and grasshoppers are at the top of my list (yes, I have a major sweet tooth). And Iβm pretty fond of fun, contemporary romances.
Speaking of books, today happens to be release day for THE SURROGATE HUSBAND,Β my first book from Entangled Publishing. I had so much fun with these characters because they are complete and total opposites. Where Lucy is a bit of a rock and roll chick with pink hair and multiple piercings, Dex is all straight-laced CPA.
Iβve always loved reading opposite attract stories. Thereβs something very satisfying about peeling back the layers of each character to reveal those intricate puzzle pieces that form their personality. I was so fortunate that the terrific cover department at Entangled got it so right. One look at Lucyβs pink hair and sexy corset juxtaposed to Dexβs conservative suit speaks volumes.
Actually, my own marriage is a bit of an opposites attract story. When I met my husband, I owned a tanning and nail salon and spent my days in a cream puff world of gossip and nail polish. In hindsight, my life was pretty cushy back then. I was fresh out of college and enjoyed nothing more than clubbing with my girlfriends.
He on the other hand, was in law enforcement, and had recently ended a painful marriage. Last thing on his agenda was getting tied down to another woman. In fact, he first came into my salon to get rid of his wedding band tan line, or so he said. Little did we both know at the time that three years later, thereβd be a brand new ring on that finger!
Somehow our opposite traits fit together perfectly, like the jagged pieces of a puzzle. Lucy and Dex are even more opposite! Youβll have to read the book to see their chemistry in action.Β
To celebrate the release, Iβll give one commenter a download of THE SURROGATE HUSBAND and another a print copy of EMPLOYEE RELATIONS, from my back list. (US and Canada only).
Hereβs a little about THE SURROGATE HUSBAND:
Wild child lingerie store owner Lucy Hamilton is a happily confirmed bachelorette. Then her mother tells a tiny lie that Lucy has eloped. Now Lucy needs to find a βhusbandβ for the weekend, and fast. Fortunately, her ridiculously hot, ridiculously straitlaced new accountant is willing to be her stand-in spouse. And the chemistry between Dex and Lucy is more than convincingβit’s sizzling. But for Lucy, falling for her fake new husband is the most dangerous thing she can do…
And hereβs a little snipet to whet your interest:
He skimmed his fingertips along her arm, and just that small touch was enough to stop her in her tracks. βYou sure we donβt need to do any moreβ¦practice?β
She licked her lips. Way too tempting.
Swallowing back a lump in her throat, she shook her head. βWe shouldnβt.β
He frowned. βOkay, but I want you to know that I enjoyed it. A lot.β
She gulped. βDex, Iββ She looked into his eyes and abruptly swallowed her half-hearted protest.
He touched a finger to her lips, which not only stopped her from speaking, it also ramped up her arousal.
Taking her head in his hands, he drew her to him and kissed her. No, it wasnβt a kiss so much as an appetizer, a teaser promising a gourmet feast.

Happy release day! I love stories where the leads decide to fake being in a relationship and find that they’re really good together.
